Amanda & Chris have owned and operated Quarry House since 2014. We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and have attempted to bring the very best of our experiences to create a wonderful holiday experience at Quarry House for all our guests to enjoy. We hope you enjoy your stay and we always welcome feedback on things you love and things we can improve.

The property

Quarry House is a beautifully renovated farm cottage set within a rural location just outside the town of Presteigne, on the border of England & Wales.

Surrounded by woodland and amazing countryside views, the grounds are set within 3 acres of dog-friendly fenced gardens, wooded areas and meandering pathways providing many areas to play, explore and relax.

With Offa’s Dyke and other fabulous walks directly accessible from grounds, Quarry House is a great base to explore the Herefordshire, Shropshire and Welsh Marches.

Accommodation

First floor:

• 2 large double bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the other with a double bed.
• 1 twin bedroom convertible to super-king bed with sofa bed which may be used as a double or single bed.
• 1 bedroom with bunk beds, including desk ideal for using as a study.
• Family bathroom with roll top bath and shower attachment.

Second floor:

• Spacious kitchen with large farmhouse dining table seating 10-12. Rangemaster cooker, separate electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, slow cooker, food processor, sandwich toaster and food warmer. Plenty of cutlery, crockery, glassware and cookware.
• Utility / boot room with additional fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.
• Lounge with comfortable seating for 8 to 10 people, featuring a wood-burner, television, DVD and Bluetooth radio speaker.
• Shower room with walk-in shower allows ground level access.
• Wi-Fi operates throughout the property with routers in kitchen and lounge .

Games room:

• Separate WC
• Pool table & dart board
• TV and DVD
• Games consoles (PS2 & Wii)
• Board games and DVDs provided
• Sofa bed (available upon request for additional occupancy – charges apply)

Outside amenities

Hot tub:

• Seats 6-8 people
• Located in a private position for ultimate privacy and seclusion
• Separate towels are provided
• Acrylic glassware for your safety within the hot tub area

Summer house:

• Located at the top of the grounds, with amazing views across the countryside
• Table tennis table and sofas
• Large decked area for relaxing and taking in the views
• Solar lights inside and outside

4 separate patio areas:

• Spectacular fire-pit with seating for 8. A great place to end the night around a warm fire.
• Barrel table with four large chairs and parasol
• Large patio table with seating for 10 and parasol + place for disposable BBQ
• Elevated patio at the front of the house. A great location to take in the views whilst enjoying a drink in the sunshine.

The grounds

Access:

Three acres of grounds are set over several levels, making the best of the amazing views surrounding Quarry House. They are accessed via steps, slopes, and pathways providing a mix of wildlife habitats, play areas and opportunities to explore. The grounds are fully fenced with direct access out to walks on Burfa Bank and Offa’s Dyke.

Areas to play:

• Large grassed areas are available in front of the house and on the upper land, ideal for ball and racket games
• Croquet, badminton and cricket equipment is provided for guests’ use
• Children’s swing, slide and play house are also available in front of the house

Areas to explore:

• Pathways have been created to explore the grounds and experience the wildlife
• There is also a wooded area to explore, giving views over the house with fencing provided for guests’ safety
• At the top of the land a gate and steps provides access to many superb walks around Burfa Bank, including fantastic views for those able to climb the slopes
• The gate also provides direct access to Offa’s Dyke (heading to Knighton in the north and Kington in the South)
